CHARACTER:
Play By: Laura Fraser
Name: Charity Rose
Age: 30
DOB: June 10, 1984
Gender: Female
Sexual Preference: Straight-leaning, but celibate
Marital Status: Single
Premade: N/A
Mutation:
Hydrokinesis; the ability to control water telekinetically. She can’t make water appear out of nowhere, and it has to be relatively pure (blood, milk, etc. don’t count). If the weather is extremely humid, she may be able to condense a little out of the air with great concentration, but nothing more than perhaps a pint. She can shape water however she wants, though it takes a lot of concentration and effort to make anything very detailed or complicated. She also can’t manipulate its temperature – therefore, the shapes she makes aren’t solid unless she finds some way to freeze them manually.
While Charity’s powers are fully available to her, their effectiveness depends entirely on her confidence, or the belief that she can do whatever she’s trying to accomplish. Therefore, her power’s effectiveness varies quite a bit, and since she already has plenty of self doubt, she’s rarely in top form.
Height & Weight: 5'5", approximately 140 pounds
Appearance:
Though she’s only thirty, Charity has lived a hard life on the freighters of the Great Lakes. It has left her with a rather weathered look, rough skin, and hair going prematurely gray at the temples. She’s quite tanned, with sandy brown hair where it hasn’t grayed and brown eyes. There’s something stern about the way she carries herself, and tends to have a confident, commanding presence. She usually dresses very plainly – heavy work pants, boots, and plain shirts mostly – with the addition of a bandana to keep off the sun and her father’s jacket.
Possessions: The things she has that are important enough to mention are her car, her father’s jacket, her wallet with some cash (though mostly plastic) and her ID, and a carved wooden cross.
Religious Views: Her parents are Catholic, but honestly she hasn’t given it much thought. She’s conscious of it, but at the moment it has little impact on her life. (Will change soon)
Previous Occupation: Freighter crew and captain
Personality:
Charity is, first and foremost, stubborn. She’s very confident in herself and is used to being in some position of command, so the role comes naturally to her. This tends to get her in trouble as much as it helps, since her upbringing left her with a rather blunt and somewhat caustic manner, and a distinctly crude sense of humor. Some of that confidence is just a façade, however – she has plenty of self-doubt about her judgment and her abilities as a leader, but she hides it well. She can be rather short-tempered, especially when she’s not being listened to, but in general she tries to do the right thing. Her biggest fault, perhaps, is that she’s rather unobservant, and sometimes makes poor judgment calls due to this (or simply misses important details).
